  1. through this forest, there is one path leading to the Tenryuji-temple - one has to walk through the forest, to hear the rustling of the trees, to become one with the trees, in order to get to the temple.
now you see the path full of tourists - but imagine yourself a pilgrim, barefoot, walking there, quietly, alone, breathing with the trees...

  3. these are astounding pictures (and the last post, too)!!!!

i think that if the people were gone, and i could hear the trees and breathe with them, this would not be the path through the forest to the temple -- this forest would be the temple :-)

  4. If the people were not there, would the bamboo be? ;-)

  5. Oh my goodness, almost as many people as bamboo! I didn't expect that at all. Where are the pandas? All gone to zoos, no doubt. I should love to hear the breathing of the trees. Do they dream of becoming flutes?

  8. i am so surprised. and so i go back to see the other photographs and am again surprised! there were other people present?! with the first set of photos people had been expunged from the world, or so i thought. maybe even you too. perhaps it was only your spirit that took the photograph of the forest's spirit. but when i go back and look at the first set i see a head in the first shot that i hadn't seen before. how right you were to have these as two separate experiences. can we (man) ever truly meet the forest in our bodies? these people move through the forest like (alix's) somethings black, becoming a river.

i will think about these photographs for a long long time.

  9. ah magnificent my friend. It is as if the summit of the trees would meet and shape a temple of divine adoration and this is the walk throught the temple and the trees are the timeless pillars of the heart and mind and forest.
YOu must have had an overwhelmingly beautiful experience walking throught the bamboo forest
HUGS and prayers and kisses for you.
